How come they don’t make films like this one anymore. There’s something special to it, that is difficult do define. I had never seen it before, and I couldn’t stop watching it up to the end, which, by the way, didn’t let me down. Yes, it may be kind of cliche at times, but that’s the fun of it, i guess. However, no doubt that it’s very good entertainment. I just don’t understand why they don’t retrieve such a good suspense officially , while so much garbage is being remastered nowadays. No spoilers from me!

I really liked this movie. I enjoyed all of the characters and the overall plot. The whole funeral home thing is always a good scare. I recommend this movie if you’re into the b-movie horrors.

LOVE this movie! My friend & I watched it and laughed all the way through the whole thing—it’s creepy but mostly hilarious because of the bad acting, bad props, bad special effects… I have a special fondness for this & am SO glad that you can buy it on DVD…but I do think that the VHS version holds a special place in my heart if for no other reason because the schlocky quality of tape vs. dvd seems to make it that much more apropos, because it gives it an even cheesier, crusty kinda’ feel to it. I would recommend this to anyone who just wants to sit back, chill with your favorite mood-adjusting beverage, and not have to think too much. It’s a purely guilty pleasure, one that I highly recommend & feel the need as I write this to go rent it again & just be happy that I’m not the one gettin’ stabbed with a giant embalming stick…just watch the movie and you’ll understand that last comment… :)

Another flick I remember briefly from my childhood has only grown tastier with age! The acting was a little dry (it’s Canadian, so I knew what I was in for!), and the deaths were not very graphic, so what made Funeral Home so special? Once again, ATMOSPHERE…the subtle manipulation of light and shadow, the characters that become slightly more menacing in each segment…

I would have given it 4 stars, but I guessed who the person locked in the basement was half-way through the film. (if you’ve watched Psycho or Tenebre, you’ll know too!) That aside, there were still some really tense scenes (protagonist knocking over a jar in the basement…you’ll see!), and the killer’s unveiling (though I guessed who it was) was still well-done and QUITE creepy for a film with so low a budget.
